The total number of employees at this company is 11,873. Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. is a Japanese car manufacturing company popular for its small car models. Many of the models of Daihatsu are called the kei jidosha or the kei cars in Japan.

On 31 March 2005, it was reported that Toyota was planning to leave Daihatsu at least at the Australian market as the sales of the company dropped down heavily in the year 2005. By March 2006 Daihatsu wrapped up its business in the Australian market. After remaining in the Australian market for around 40 years they left the market.
In Chile Daihatsu is a renowned brand mainly for the models they brought to the market in the 1970s, such as Charade or Cuore. After the sale of this company dropped down in 2004 and 2005 it was on the verge of being closed down. As of now Daihatsu has an interest in remaining in the Chile market.
Daihatsu has the reputation of supplying cars under different brand names to different automobile companies. Daihatsu also supplied transmissions and engines to Perodua, one of the biggest car manufacturing companies in Malaysia that even sells cars in the countries like, United Kingdom and Malaysia.
